Why these sounds?
Small cues make focus and physical controls feel responsive. Longer cues distinguish progress, completion, and failure. Compare the same sampling workflow in Silent, Essential, and Full. Audio reinforces each visible result; the console is fully usable without it.
Topography & living text
The survey field is an original Canvas 2D projection of a synthetic elevation grid: white point samples, marching-squares contour lines, and an amber transect. Station clicks link the field to the table, profile, and sensors; keyboard orbit controls complement dragging. It is inspired by the sci-fi dashboard's terrain vocabulary, with fewer points and a simpler renderer. The ASCII band adapts our own Rising Contour experiment from Oxide Header Lab, originally inspired by Oxide's Series D header. Both animations respect Motion, reduced motion, backgrounding, and visibility.
One buffer, 28 slices
Your mechanical / −8 semitone Foley exports are concatenated losslessly with 50 ms silent gaps. The supplied map differed from several WAV durations, so this map was rebuilt from sample counts. The whole sprite is embedded here and decoded once after you enable sound. Each cue reads an exact segment from the shared buffer; edges fade for 2–4 ms. Six voices maximum, per-cue cooldown, modest master gain, and a compressor control overlap. Stereo placement follows the control's horizontal location.
The decode readout measures local decode work, not audible output latency. Base64 and sprites remain extractable. Packaging is a delivery choice, not license protection. Foley's official code is MIT; no separate paid-pack restrictions were found. Other commercial sound libraries need their own license review.
References & provenance
Original interface and synthetic data created for this repository, 12 October 2026. Diagonale des Fous / MODALE inspired the instrument grid, corner brackets, linked charts, mono text and amber accents. No visual assets or code were copied from it. Continues the Engram CALDERA design study (03h0kkmcqjugilgupkkumdjke) and concept prompts (03h0kl29g6blj8vg9z8y6dbvq). This study's note: 03h1ehvd7d7nrjuw4pitlwqbs.
Audio: user-supplied deterministic exports from Foley; mechanical theme, transpose −8 st. See agent guide, official docs, MIT license at inspected snapshot, and Web Audio slice scheduling. This player is original code, using exported audio rather than Foley's live synthesis runtime.
